There’s a high probability you may find yourself grill side this Labor Day weekend. If so, then you might want to skip the beef and try ground pork instead. Ground pork is a great alternative to beef for its great flavor and low-fat content. Not to mention, pork pairs perfectly with sweet apples and a big ole hunk of brie stuffed right in the center. So fire that grill up and wow your guests with a burger that’s far from ordinary!
RECIPE:
1.5 Ib ground pork
1 cup chopped apple
1 clove garlic, minced
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon granulated onion
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
These are: Cheeses, cottage cheese and buttermilk Soy products, such as miso and tempeh Sauerkraut and kimchi
8 oz brie
METHOD:
1. Heat grill to medium-high heat. In a large bowl combine ground pork with chopped apples and seasonings. Stir well to combine.
2. Form burgers by patting meat out into a uniform size of around 6 ounces. Use a spoon and press firmly into the center to make a small “pocket”. Add a nice size piece of brie, and reform burger.
3. Place directly on a lightly greased grill rack and cook 10-12 minutes, flipping once. An internal temperature of 165 should be reached.
4. Remove from heat and serve on a bun with additional slices of apple and brie.
